Ways To Make European Travel Easier After Brexit

In the midst of Brexit uncertainty, booking a European holiday has become even more confusing for Brits. As if planning and booking a holiday wasn't stressful enough, UK residents now have to completely revise their usual holiday strategy in order to ensure it doesn't collide with new Brexit negotiations. While Brexit has already proved to affect many European travel factors, there are ways to work around these, so don't lose all hope yet!

Opt For Travel Insurance, Always

Ideally, you should always opt for travel insurance when booking a holiday abroad, however for European travel specially, many Britons would largely rely on their EHIC card renewal, as this entitles them to free or discounted medical care should they obtain an injury abroad. A Brexit Secretary was asked what would happen to the EHIC after Brexit, and mostly he seemed rather unsure, but there have been arguments about Brits still maintaining the right to use an EHIC for discounted healthcare. This argument is largely based on Switzerland, as despite not being a member of the EU, Swiss residents still have access to the EHIC card during European travel. All we can suggest is, under so much uncertainty, opt for travel insurance just in case.

Book Your Holiday Far In Advance

Brexit hasn't really taken off yet, but still almost 2 years later and we're already starting to see the impact that it's having on European travel. Flights have shot up in price, meaning that you're going to need to budget a lot more before you decide to embark on a European holiday as a Brit. Countries within the EU are able to have access to cheaper flights due to the specific, easier flight paths put in place for airlines to follow, but now the UK is set to depart from the EU, these flight paths will no longer be accessible, causing them to raise prices to premium heights. As a result, the best thing you can do at the moment is to book as far in advance as possible to secure the cheapest prices.

Bring Plenty Of Entertainment Sources

Now that the UK is set to leave the EU, Britons get to reap the benefits of borderless travel, and while this sounds fantastic initially as it means Brits will no longer need a visa to travel, it does meant that they're going to have to pass through passport control when touching down in European countries, unlike before. Queuing with other non-EU tourists means that Brits are going to be standing in an exceedingly long line for a laborious amount of time, kicking off the holiday to a boring start. As a result, make travel better by preparing yourself with plenty of entertainment sources, as this way you can pass the time much better.

Contact Your Mobile Contractor Before Departure

Another benefit of being in the EU is the free data roaming that you receive when touring in neighbouring EU countries, however the UK will also lose this novelty after leaving the EU. Therefore, Brits can expect facing additional fees to make calls, send texts and roam the internet, although the final outcome remain uncertain.

Brexit has sparked worry in Brits all across the UK, however it really isn't as bad as the media makes it out to be. While there will be obvious changes to European travel following Brexit, there are many ways in which you can make travel easier for yourself.
