Mass Hysterical Masochism Ten Years On.

When the USSR fell apart there was rejoicing. There was also wailing and beating of breasts from the elite party members. They had enjoyed privileges forbidden to the masses. Special shops stocked not just with luxuries, but scarce everyday essentials too. As the elite, they enjoyed hotels and resorts reserved just for them. My wife, who was born in the USSR, recalls driving past queues of people waiting to buy bones, scraps and vegetables to make soup as she accompanied her mother to the party shop. (Mother was a prominent member of the party) It struck the little girl as grossly unfair. Now an adult with a successful career in London she is a dedicated supporter of Brexit. She voted Leave because the EU, which she studied for her law degree, had so many features that were identical to the USSR.

Like the USSR, the EU is ruled by an unelected Politburo that holds meetings behind closed doors, without minutes or scrutiny. It issues directives that are essentially holy writ. The EU has a political court charged not with protecting law, but ensuring that the EU writ is obeyed and spread. The apparatus is supported by an army of 'international' civil servants. They do not pay taxes in the country where they work. Although less now, they still enjoy some VAT free purchasing and special shops. Just as with the fall of the USSR, those apparatchiks affected by Brexit wailed and beat their breasts. So did UK expats many of whom followed Esau in believing that selling their birthright for freedom of movement was sensible.

True to its Socialist roots the EU regulates everything that moves. Germany is now in its third year of recession. Despite suffering incompetent government since the Referendum and leaving the EU in 2020 the UK has consistently outperformed the EU and its main provinces. Facts do not matter to fanatics. It is slightly understandable that politicians and civil servants dreaming of joining the EU gravy train were disappointed. What is not understandable is the refusal after six years to accept the democratic fact and work to gain advantage.

Without losers consent democracy cannot survive. The desperate whining re-joiners are simply attacking the very soul of our democracy. By refusing consent they have set the stage for chaos and un-governability. Of courser, Fabian Marxists like Starmer, Burnham and Bailey are desperate to overthrow democracy and re-join. The EU is a putative  unitary socialist state. That is a giant step toward the Fabian dream of a Socialist World government. But the others? The Tory wets, Lib Dems, Greens, Plaid, SNP? What's in it for them? Of course, without EU laws passing into UK law without scrutiny they have to do some work. Is that so bad? Is it a reason to want to overturn democracy and freedom?

The re-join chorus never stops bleating about economics. Even FACT BASED articles cannot shake their false beliefs.

Brexit was about sovereignty, not economics. The question, should have been "Do you wish to elect those who rule and make your laws"? If that question had been put the result may well have been over 90% for leave. It was not. Instead Cameron and Osborne used every trick in the book to ask the wrong question and threaten the electorate into supporting Remain. They failed and slunk away defeated, but determined that their toxic legacy lived on. Ignoring the advantages that freedom offers, Starmer, Burnham and the majority of politicians and civil servants are determined to overthrow democracy and take us back into the EU. They know that if they succeed that means, joining the Euro, abandoning our trade deals and accepting perpetual subservience. They will not say so, because our relations with the Common Market, EEC and EU have, since Heath, been founded on lies.

We left the EU with a Free Trade Agreement that the EU has with malign intent and spite undermined. We can pray that in three years we will elect a government that will protect British interests. Until then, Reform and the Conservative party must announce that any agreements made by Starmer or Burnham will be rescinded. Badenoch claims the Tory party is now different. Let her prove it by this declaration.
