The Bruges Group feel that the PM’s desire to see Britain incorporated into a Federal Europe will most certainly lead him to hold a referendum that he can not win.

A two-to-one majority of the public are against membership of the Single Currency because it is economic folly, membership would most likely drive up unemployment to Continental levels, and will inevitably mean the UK’s incorporation into a Federal EU.

When Tony Blair suggests that there will be a referendum we say - bring it on.
