It is of note that
Hungary has historical form in raising rebellions – though
regrettably less so in their ultimate success. But as the EU once again seeks
to turn
its institutional architecture towards ever-closer political union we may see
how

This paper by
the foreign policy expert Andrey Karbovskiy, Ph.D., examines the issue of the
EU’s enlargement towards Eastern Europe and the political factors which have
influenced the EU’s policy towards the independent nations that were once part

The Bruges Group,
which takes a special interest in Estonia and supported the “no” campaign in
the 2003 accession referendum with human and financial resources, greatly

state

Internal bun-fights in the EU and an end to the largesse could mean that
there is a parting of the ways, but only if the Conservative Party is bold
enough to divorce the EPP and lead a fight back

The War on Terror has opened a fundamental division between the

EU Enlargement will not create the flexible Europe that many in the
Conservative Party hope for but instead it will mean that the European Union
will only become more centralised.

The EU has missed an historic opportunity to help those countries that have
only just become liberated from the Soviet sphere of influence.
